General Plumbing & Heating
What plumbing and heating services do you actually cover?
We handle day to day plumbing repairs, full boiler installations, boiler servicing, power flushing, radiator work, hot water cylinders and emergency call outs.
That means anything from a leaking pipe under the sink to a complete heating system upgrade. We regularly work on modern combi systems, older gravity systems with tanks, and everything in between. If you are unsure whether your job falls within our scope, call us and describe the issue. We will tell you straight.
Are you Gas Safe registered?
Yes. All gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers, which is a legal requirement in the UK. Gas boilers, gas pipework, safety checks and heating installations are completed in line with current regulations.
You should never allow anyone who is not Gas Safe registered to work on your gas appliances. If you want to see ID on arrival, just ask.
What areas do you cover?
We are based in Spalding and regularly work across Peterborough, Stamford, Bourne, Holbeach, Boston, Grantham, Sleaford, Long Sutton and many other surrounding towns and villages.
Being local means quicker response times and better knowledge of the types of properties in the area, from new builds to older rural homes.
- Service Questions
Boiler Installations
How do I know if I need a new boiler?
If your boiler keeps breaking down, struggles to heat the house evenly, or is over ten to fifteen years old, it is usually worth considering a replacement.
Another sign is rising energy bills without increased usage. Older boilers are far less efficient than modern models. We will assess your current system properly before advising. Sometimes a repair is enough. Sometimes it makes more sense to upgrade.
What does a boiler installation include?
We remove and dispose of the old boiler safely. We install the new unit, connect pipework correctly, test the system thoroughly and commission it to manufacturer standards.
Before we leave, we show you how to use the controls properly. That includes temperature settings, timers and efficiency adjustments. You will also receive the relevant paperwork and warranty information.
How long does it take to install a new boiler?
A straightforward swap can often be completed in a single day. If you are converting from one system type to another, for example from a conventional system with tanks to a combi boiler, it can take longer.
We give you a realistic timeframe once we have seen the property. We do not guess.
Which boiler brands do you install?
We work with trusted manufacturers such as Baxi and Ideal, both of which offer strong warranties, in some cases up to ten years.
The right boiler depends on your home size, hot water demand and existing setup. Smaller homes often suit a combi. Larger homes with multiple bathrooms may benefit from a system or conventional boiler.
Can you convert my old heating system to a combi boiler?
Yes. We carry out full system conversions, including removing old cylinders and loft tanks where required.
A combi boiler provides hot water on demand without storing it in a tank. That frees up space and simplifies the system. Not every home suits a combi, so we assess water demand and pipework before advising.
Will a new boiler reduce my energy bills?
Modern boilers are far more efficient than older models. If your current boiler is over ten years old, upgrading can improve fuel efficiency and reduce energy waste.
Savings depend on usage and the condition of the old system. We focus on installing the right size boiler so it runs efficiently rather than oversized or underpowered.
Do you install radiators during boiler upgrades?
Yes. Many customers choose to replace old radiators at the same time as a boiler installation.
We supply and fit new radiators and towel rails, and we ensure they are correctly sized for each room. Proper sizing improves comfort and heating balance across the property.
- Service Questions
Hot Water Cylinder Installation
Should I replace my hot water cylinder?
If your cylinder is over ten to fifteen years old, showing corrosion, leaking, or failing to provide enough hot water, replacement is often sensible.
Modern cylinders are better insulated, which reduces heat loss and improves efficiency.
What is the difference between vented and unvented cylinders?
A vented cylinder relies on a cold water tank, usually in the loft, and uses gravity to create pressure.
An unvented cylinder connects directly to the mains supply. That means stronger water pressure at taps and showers. It also requires specific safety controls and qualifications to install.
We are qualified to fit unvented systems safely and in line with UK regulations.
How long does cylinder installation take?
Cylinder size depends on household size and peak usage. A home with multiple bathrooms will require a larger capacity than a smaller household.
We calculate appropriate litre capacity based on demand so you do not run out of hot water during busy periods.
How do I know what size hot water cylinder I need?
A like for like replacement can often be completed within half a day to a full day.
If pipework needs altering or you are changing system type, it may take longer. We discuss the details beforehand so there are no surprises.
- Service Questions
Boiler Servicing
How often should I service my boiler?
Once a year. That keeps it safe, efficient and within most manufacturer warranty conditions.
Annual servicing allows us to catch wear and tear before it turns into a breakdown. Many customers book in late summer or early autumn so everything is ready for winter.
What actually happens during a boiler service?
We inspect the boiler inside and out. Components such as the burner and heat exchanger are checked and cleaned if needed. Gas pressure is verified. Safety devices are tested. The flue is inspected.
We then fire the boiler up and confirm it is operating correctly. If we find anything that needs attention, we explain it clearly before doing further work.
Is servicing really necessary if the boiler seems fine?
Yes. Boilers can appear to be working normally while developing internal issues. A service is preventative maintenance.
It costs far less than emergency repair work and helps avoid being left without heating during cold weather.
Do you service all makes and models of gas boilers?
Yes. We service combi boilers, system boilers and conventional boilers from a range of manufacturers.
If you are unsure about your boiler model, we can identify it during the visit. Annual servicing keeps it operating safely and helps maintain warranty compliance.
Do you provide landlord gas safety checks in Spalding?
Yes. We carry out annual gas safety inspections for landlords in Spalding, Donington, Boston and surrounding areas.
Certificates are issued promptly after inspection. If we identify any issues, we explain the required remedial work clearly so you can act quickly and stay compliant.
Can I book a boiler service before winter?
Yes, and it is a sensible idea. Many homeowners book servicing in late summer or early autumn to avoid winter breakdowns.
Early servicing means parts can be sourced without urgency and heating systems are ready when temperatures drop.
- Service Questions
Power Flushing
What is power flushing and why would I need it?
Over time, sludge and corrosion build up inside radiators and pipework. That restricts water flow and reduces heating efficiency.
Power flushing uses specialist equipment and cleaning chemicals to remove that debris. Radiators heat more evenly afterwards, and the boiler works under less strain.
Signs you might need it include cold spots on radiators, noisy boiler operation or murky water when bleeding radiators.
Will power flushing damage my system?
When carried out correctly, it is a safe procedure. If parts of your system are already severely weakened by corrosion, the flush may reveal those weak points. That simply means they were already close to failure.
We monitor the system carefully throughout the process and advise you if we identify any issues.
How long does a power flush take?
For an average home, it usually takes several hours. Larger systems may take longer.
You can remain at home while the work is carried out, and we keep disruption to a minimum.
Should I power flush before installing a new boiler?
In many cases, yes. Installing a new boiler onto a sludge filled system can reduce the lifespan of the new unit.
We often recommend flushing older systems before connecting a new boiler to protect your investment.

Emergency Plumbing
What counts as a plumbing emergency?
Burst pipes, major leaks, no heating during winter, complete loss of water supply, gas leaks or a carbon monoxide alarm sounding all count as emergencies.
If you are unsure, call us. It is better to check than ignore something serious.
How quickly can you respond?
We operate 24 hours a day. Response time depends on your location and current demand, but emergency jobs are prioritised.
Being based in Spalding allows us to reach most local properties quickly, and we regularly attend calls across Peterborough, Stamford, Bourne, Holbeach, Boston and surrounding areas.
What should I do before you arrive?
If there is a water leak, turn off your main stopcock to limit damage.
If you suspect a gas issue, turn off the gas supply at the meter if you know how, ventilate the area and avoid using electrical switches.
Once we arrive, we will diagnose the issue and make it safe before carrying out repairs.
Are you a 24 hour emergency plumber in Spalding?
Yes. We offer 24 hour emergency plumbing in Spalding and nearby towns.
If you have a burst pipe, severe leak, no heating in winter, or suspect a gas issue, call immediately. We prioritise urgent cases to reduce property damage and restore safety.

- General Questions
Other Common Questions
Are you insured?
Yes. We hold full public liability insurance and relevant certifications.
How do you price your work?
We provide clear quotes and explain costs before starting work. For emergency call outs, we explain any call out fee structure at the time of booking.
Customers regularly comment on fair pricing and tidy workmanship. That reputation matters to us.
Can you fix low water pressure?
Yes. Customers regularly comment on tidy workmanship.
We use dust sheets where needed and clear away old parts, packaging and debris before leaving. Boiler installations and cylinder replacements are completed with pipework neatly clipped and aligned.
Will you leave my home tidy after work?
Low water pressure can be caused by several things. Old pipework, partially closed valves, failing cylinders or issues with the mains supply.
We regularly diagnose and resolve pressure problems in Spalding, Bourne, Stamford and surrounding areas. In some homes, installing an unvented cylinder or booster pump makes a noticeable difference. In others, the solution is much simpler.
We assess the full system before recommending changes.
